My short visit in Slovenia
After a long party (yes, again...) and a hard wake-up, I’m following my journey and crossing Slovenia. My Croatian friends that I already met in Trieste are taking my luggage with them and it's with a 'naked' bike that I’m arriving at the border. When the customs officer is asking me where I come from (Zurich) and after where I'm going (Tibet), he's really surprised ! So he is asking me how it's possible to go to Tibet without luggage and I tell him really seriously: no problem, credit card!
I'm still laughing when I remember his face… He was probably thinking that I was crazy…
I can't tell a lot about Slovenia because I just drove about 50 kilometers to join Croatia. I saw a lot of panels for the circulation warning of animals crossing the road but the only one I saw was on a road's sign.
The only memory I keep in mind of Slovenia is that I was really ecstatic finding the meadows in the heights without insects!
I decided to enjoy a good sleep at midday in a field when I saw an old farmer passing on his tractor. He greeted me with this smile that I'm going to see a lot in the Balkan countries: this typical smile of the Balkans, full of softness and sincerity on a hard and proud face. After that I started to drive again and I met on the road my friends driving to Rieja, a good souvenir.
Slovenia is richer and cleaner than all its neighbour countries and there the roads are not full of rubbish (mmmh it could be almost Switzerland !!!) |
